The course handicap converts the index to the tee you are standing on through the Slope Rating, and the playing handicap then applies the allowance for the format. Both formulas are published in the Rules of Handicapping — this runs them, and shows the score differential the round will produce.

Before you rely on it
Handicap arithmetic is only as good as the equipment you carry: a non-conforming head, a ball that has come off the conforming list, or slope left switched on will cost you the round however the maths lands.
